Ingredients

  • 1 cup Broken Wheat (Dalia/ Godumai Rava)
  • 3 cups Water
  • 1 tablespoon Fennel seeds (Saunf)
  • 1/2 tablespoon Cardamom Powder (Elaichi)
  • 1-1/2 cup Sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Ghee
  • 10 Cashew nuts
  • 1 tablespoon Milk - lukewarm
  • Saffron strands - few

Instructions

To begin making the Thulli method, purée lukewarm dairy liquid and saffron in a small dish and keep it aside.In a heavy bottom making vessel, empty in 1 tablespoon of ghee and shallow fry cashews on low flame until they turn light brown.

Turn off the flame and set aside.Now in the same skillet, empty in remaining ghee and shallow fry broken wheat until lightly coloured on low flame.

Set it aside.Now in the same skillet empty in moisture, fennel seeds, dairy liquid+saffron mixture and cardamom dusting seasoning.

Give the mixture a swirl around and allow it to bubble.Now lower the flame and start adding the broken wheat by continuously stirring to avoid lumps.

prepare till broken wheat is completely cooked.Now empty in sweetener to the mixture and give it a nice swirl around.

prepare until the sweetener dissolves.

accentuate with fried cashews and present scalding or at room temperature.present Thulli as a dessert after your everyday meal of Dal Tadka, Makai Wali Bhindi and Phulka.
