Ingredients

  • 1 cup tur dal - pili
  • 1/4 cup white urad dal (split)
  • 3 dry red chillies
  • 1/2 cup roasted chana dal
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 18 grams tamarind
  • 4 bud garlic
  • salt - 1 to taste Teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon white urad dal
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • asafetida - a pinch
  • oil

Instructions

To make Andhra Style Kandi Pachadi, first bring to temperature margarine in a skillet.

toss in tur dal, cumin seeds and make till it becomes light brown.

Now toss in urad dal and arid red chillies and make for 1 to 2 mins.

Turn off the gas and allow this mixture to cool.

toss in tamarind, garlic, some moisture and grind it in a mixer grinder.

Take out in a container.

Now bring to temperature the margarine in a tempering light in the tempering.

toss in the mustard seeds, urad dal and make it for 10 seconds.

Now toss in curry leaves, arid red chillies, asafoetida and make it for 10 seconds.

toss in this tempering to the chutney and incorporate.

dish up Andhra Style Kandi Pachdi with Keirai Sambar, Cabbage Thoran, Rice and Papad for dinner.
