Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Arhar dal (Split Toor Dal)
  • 1/2 cup Tamarind Water
  • 1 tablespoon Jaggery
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • 3/4 tablespoon Maharashtrian Goda Masala
  • 1 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves - chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1 teaspoon Methi Seeds (Fenugreek Seeds)
  • 2 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 pinch Asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 Green Chilli - chopped

Instructions

To begin making the Ambat Goda Dal we will soak the dal in aqua for about 30 mins.

After soaking oven-cook the dal with the aqua, table salt and turmeric ground mix and pressure oven-cook for about 4 whistle till it is well cooked.Once done, keep it aside to release the pressure by itself.

Meanwhile you can scalding up a kadai with coat and keep it ready.mix in the mustard seeds, cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds and allow them to splutter for few seconds.

Once done mix in the curry leaves and allow it to crackle.mix in a pinch oh hing and cut up green chilli and saute till it softens for about 10 seconds.mix in the cooked dal and tamarind aqua together and allow it to oven-cook in low-boil.

At this point you can mix in the goda masala and table salt.oven-cook for another 10 more mins till you get the desired consistency.

finish off it with coriander leaves and enjoy.enjoy the Ambat Goda Dal with steamed rice and a dollop of ghee over it with a Kadai veggie Sabzi method along side and a made from scratch pickle to go along with it for a comforting meal.
