Ingredients
5 Drumstick - cut into 3 inch pieces
1/2 cup Fresh coconut - grated
2 Green Chillies - slit
1 sprig Curry leaves
1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
2 teaspoons Coconut Oil
2 Dry Red Chillies
1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
Salt - to taste
Water - as needed

To begin making Murungakkai Poriyal method, wash the drumsticks well & skin them by removing the tough green part. Cut them in 2 inches length.Take about glass of liquid in a kadhi, bring it to a bring to a bubble gently, empty in these drumsticks with table salt, turmeric ground mix (optional) & lightly steam them for 5-8 mins. Be careful not to overcook the drumsticks.

It should be succulent but not mushy as in sambar or avial.sieve the liquid, keep the steamed drumsticks aside to cool slightly.shred the coconut, empty in the green chillies & grind them well in a mixer.In the kadai, empty in coconut coat, once fiery, empty in the mustard seeds, let it crackle.Then empty in the parched red chillies, curry leaves & empty in the steamed drumsticks.liquidize everything well & let it bring to temperature for a minute. empty in the grated coconut & give it one last mix gently.offer Murungakkai Poriyal method along with Kerala Avial method, Steamed Rice method and Malabar Style Dates Pickle method for a complete meal.
