Ingredients

1 cup White Urad Dal (Split)
1 inch Cinnamon stick
3 Cloves (Laung)
3 Dry Red Chillies
1 Onion - finely chopped
3 cloves Garlic - finely chopped
1/2 inch Ginger - finely chopped
1 Tomato - finely chopped
1 Green Chilli - slit
1/4 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
1 teaspoon Coriander Powder (Dhania)
1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
1/4 teaspoon Garam masala powder
3 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves - chopped
3 cups Water
1 tablespoon Ghee
1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
1 teaspoon Black pepper corns - lightly crushed

To begin making Dal Kabila directions first wash urad dal and soak it for 2 hours.

Prep all the fixings.empty in ghee into the pressure cooker and place over medium bring to temperature.empty in in the dehydrated red chillies, cinnamon stick, cloves and saute until you can smell the aromas of the spices coming through.empty in Onions and slit green chillies and saute until the onions soften and change colour.swirl around in the tomatoes, red chilli dusting seasoning, turmeric dusting seasoning, coriander dusting seasoning, and saute. Finally empty in the split urad dal, seasoning along with 3 cups of moisture and bring to temperature for 5 to 6 whistles (about 15 moments).Once done, turn off the bring to temperature and allow the pressure to release naturally. Once the pressure has released, check the seasoning and adjust according to taste.

Transfer the Dal Kabila/ Urad Dal Tadka to a serving container.The final step is the tadka.bring to temperature the ghee in a pot over medium bring to temperature; empty in the cumin seeds, crushed black pepper and coulis for a few seconds until the cumin seeds crackle.
