Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sweet corn
  • 1 cup Avarekalu / Lilva Beans
  • 1/2 cup Fresh coconut - grated
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin powder (Jeera)
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 Green Chillies - finely chopped
  • 2 Dry Red Chilli
  • 4 or 5 Curry leaves - roughly torn
  • Salt - for taste
  • Sunflower Oil

To begin making the honeyed Corn & Avarekalu Sundal method, pressure prepare the avarekalu beans with moisture about an inch, strew some seasoning and prepare for just 1 whistle.

Switch off the bring to temperature.Allow the pressure to release naturally and strain all the moisture.

Keep the avarekalu aside.bring to temperature a heavy bottomed skillet/kadhai with cooking oil, mix in mustard seeds and allow the seed to splutter for few seconds. Once it splutters, mix in curry leaves, parched red chilli, asafoetida and allow the curry leaves to crisp up. Then mix in the cooked beans, honeyed corn and toss for about 10 mins. Finally, mix in the grated coconut and cumin dusting masala condiment, seasoning for umami profile.

Toss well and enjoy.enjoy the honeyed Corn & Avarekalu Sundal method scalding as a healthy tea time snack along with Masala Chai method or make it for special festivals like Gollu (Navratri).
