  • 1/2 cup Yellow Moong Dal (Split) - cooked
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • 1/2 cup Fresh coconut
  • 4 Dry Red Chillies
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • Curry leaves
  • Salt - to taste
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil
  • 1 teaspoon White Urad Dal (Split)

Instructions

To begin making the Avarakkai Poricha Kootu method ; we will first bring to temperature the moong dal lentils with about 1 cup of aqua in a pressure cooker, along with a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric ground mix and seasoning to taste.Pressure bring to temperature for at least 4 whistles and turn off the bring to temperature.

Once done, turn off the bring to temperature and release the pressure immediately.  Releasing the pressure immediately will help, retaining the bright green color of Avarakkai.transfer in the cooked Avarakkai to the cooked moong dal and give it a agitate.The next step is to grind the Avarakkai Kootu masala.Into the mixer grinder, transfer in the grated coconut, cumin seeds, curry leaves and the red chilli into a seamless paste.
