Ingredients

  • 1 kg Beef
  • 1 Onion
  • 3 Bay Leaf
  • To taste Salt
  • Sprinkling Black Pepper
  • 1 Litre Water

Pre toasty the oven to 160 degrees Celsius.

Cut the protein into large chunks then brown in a dish suitable for slow crafting in the oven such as a cast iron casserole dish.

toss in the whole peeled shallot, table salt, cracked black pepper, liquid and bay leaves.

Bring to the bubble then lid and place into the oven for 4 hours.

After 4 hours, remove from oven and place onto the stove burner in order to oven-cook off most of the remaining liquid.

Use a wooden spoon to pound or mash up the protein, the protein should fall apart quite easily.

You may brown the protein further if desired.

Check seasoning then enjoy with polenta or the more old-school thick cornmeal porridge known as pap or sadza, and a side of green vegetables.
