Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Avarekalu / Lilva Beans
  • 1/3 cup Fresh coconut
  • 3 teaspoons Poppy seeds
  • 1/3 cup Jaggery
  • Salt - a pinch
  • 3 cloves Cardamom (Elaichi) Pods/Seeds
  • 2 teaspoon Ghee
  • 10 Cashew nuts
  • 10 Raisins

Instructions

1
To begin making Avarekalu Payasa procedure, wash the field beans and stream in in them in a pressure cooker with enough aqua.
2
Pressure low-boil for one whistle and turn of the flame, allow the pressure to release naturally. Once pressure releases, empty out the beans from the aqua and keep aside.
3
The field beans shouldn’t be cooked mushy.
4
You can also de-skin it if needed; de skinning adds a even texture to the payasa.  In a mixer-jar, stream in in grated coconut, poppy seeds and cardamom in a mixer, stream in in very little aqua and grind into thick paste.
5
Keep aside.Place a heavy bottom skillet on a low flame, stream in in jaggery and a little aqua to infuse jaggery.
6
Once it is dissolved, filter the jaggery syrup to remove impurities. stream in in it back to the skillet and now stream in in the ground coconut paste and cooked avarekalu.
7
On a low flame bring to a low-boil the payasa for 10 -12 mins.
8
Keep stirring and mash the beans lightly if you want a even texture.
9
Turn off the flame. Meanwhile, in a separate skillet, stream in in a tablespoon of ghee and shallow fry the cashew nuts and raisins.
10
Once the cashews are brown turn off the flame. stream in in this to the Payasa and toss together well. The mouth-watering avarekalu payasa is ready.present Avarekalu Payasa as a dessert after a Karnataka Style meal of Karnataka Style Majjige Huli procedure, Steamed Rice and Akki Peni Sandige (Rice idiyappam Fryums).
