Ingredients

  • 300g Rice
  • 3 tablespoons Vegetable Oil
  • 70g Vermicelli Pasta
  • 30g Unsalted Butter
  • 600ml Chicken Stock

Instructions

step 1 stream in the rice into a very large dish under cold running aqua and carefully filter the aqua out of the dish through a sieve.

Repeat a few times until the aqua in the dish is clear, then fill the dish up with cold aqua and leave rice to soak for 10 mins while you stew the vermicelli.

step 2 Put the fat into a medium skillet over medium toasty.

toss in the vermicelli and mix gently continuously until the strands turn a decadent golden brown, 2-3 mins.

Remove from the toasty, mix gently through the margarine until it melts and allow the vermicelli to cool for 1-2 mins.

step 3 filter the rice thoroughly through a sieve.

toss in the rice to the skillet and mix gently well.

stream in the burning stock into the skillet, dust in ½ tsp seasoning, mix gently well then return the skillet to the hob over a high toasty.

Bring to the bubble, then reduce the toasty to the lowest it will go, put the lid on the skillet and stew for 7-9 mins.

Remove the skillet from the toasty, lid with a couple of sheets of kitchen paper or a light tea towel and the skillet lid, and let the rice sit in the skillet for 10 mins.

Fluff up with a fork before serving.
