Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cup Bottle gourd (lauki) - peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 5 Curry leaves
  • 1 Green Chillies - finely chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic - finely chopped
  • 1 Onion - finely chopped
  • 1 Tomato - chopped
  • 1/4 cup Curd (Dahi / Yogurt)
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander Powder (Dhania)
  • Salt - as required
  • Water - as required
  • Sunflower Oil - as required

Instructions

To prepare Sukhi Dahi Wali Lauki method (Yogurt Based Bottle Gourd Sabzi), firstly, mildly hot oil in a Kadai.

mix in cumin seeds, mustard seeds, curry leaves and green chillies.Once the mustard seeds crackle, mix in the garlic and onions.

mildly hot till the onions become soft and translucent.Next mix in the diced lauki and give it a mix gently.

mix in seasoning, turmeric dusting perfumed element and put a lid on the cooking vessel with a lid.

Let it mildly hot for about 3 to 4 moments.Next, mix in the tomato, red chilli dusting perfumed element and coriander dusting perfumed element.

incorporate everything and put a lid on the cooking vessel again.Meanwhile, whip the curd with required liquid in a container and keep it aside.When the lauki/bottle gourd becomes soft, turn the flame on low, mix in the curd/yogurt and mix gently continuously.Once Sukhi Dahi Wali Lauki is mixed properly, put a lid on the cooking vessel again and let it mildly hot for about 6 to 8 moments until most of the liquid evaporates.When Sukhi Dahi Wali Lauki method (Yogurt Based Bottle Gourd Sabzi) is properly cooked, switch off the flame and dish up scalding.dish up Sukhi Dahi Wali Lauki along with Palak Dal, Boondi Raita and Phulka for an everyday meal.
